  • The Writer –  Owen Ellickson
  • Directed by – Charles MacDougall
  • A brief synopsis – A depressed Robert California over the prospects of losing his Playboy Mansion at under market value takes Kevin’s advice and throws an office pool party there.  Erin decides to try towin Andy back after hearing something from Meredith.  To do this, she makes use of Dwight’s manliness to make Andy jealous.  What she doesn’t know, is that Andy is thinking about proposing.  Jim, the “master of leaving parties early” gets taken out by Robert.
  • The best line – Robert: When I put in this screening room, I bought three movies: Caligula, Last Tango in Paris and Emmanuelle 2.  The last two movies I watched in here were…Marley and Me and On Golden F(bleep)ing Pond.  Ryan: I mean, it’s clearly meant for watching erotic cinema.  Gabe: Yeah, we can watch some right now if you want.  I have a Korean film on my iPod…I mean, just, if you have the cables.
  • 2nd best line – Jim: I don’t mean to brag, but, New Year’s eve: I was home by 9.
  • 3rd best line – Robert: I had two bears sewn together to make this King size…Total waste of two bears.
  • 4th best line – AndyJessica, “I love you.” That’s a message from my mom.
  • 5th best line – Dwight (to Andy): Boy that Erin…she is a ripe little tiger, isn’t she?  And to think, I always thought of her as a second Meredith.
  • The best moment – Andy, getting his ring back from Erin.  Still I dream of it.
  • The best story line – Toby getting roped into God knows what with Oscar.
  • Notable guest appearance – Jessica, Andy’s girlfriend, played by  Eleanor Seigler
  • Grade – A-

This is a good episode for the cast, and a great episode for Spader, in particular.  His ramblings about what could have been, and his leading the unwitting party-goers into the depths of his depravity is Spader at his best and most fully utilized.  It gives hope to the rest of the season, when you discover that the breakdown you are witnessing with Robert has been foreshadowed so well in lesser episodes.  Andy’s predicament is 2 nice girls as compared to the morass he was tangled in with Angela and Dwight.  Erin iss good, except for her wacky attempts at getting Andy’s attention.  The deal with the ring is brought past it’s usefulness.  Extra points for torturing Jim to the point that he tears out of the party like a bat out of hell.  Kevin, Meredith, Val and Darryl have funny moments, as well.  Very solid episode.
