• The Writer – B.J. Novak
  • Director – Randall Einhorn
  • A brief synopsis – It’s Ryan’s day to do his first sales call with Dwight.  It’s Stanley’s best day, pretzel day.  Jim takes his chair back from Karen.  Michael has too much sugar, which allows him to waste time fast and be effective too.   Not much else.
  • The best line – Dwight: Ryan, come on. I am sorry. I am sorry. Mose is sorry too. Look, he sent over a basket with eggs and some fat back bacon. And look, something he whittled.
  • The best moment – Mose.
  • 2nd best moment – Andy taking Jim’s cue to sing that Cardigans song.
  • The best storyline – Stanley gets his pretzel.
  • Notable guest appearance – Mose.
  • Would Michael have been reprimanded? – Looks like he really is being watched for wasting time.  So he wastes more time.  And gets a big sale.
  • Grade – B-

Dwight’s initiation process is, frankly, boring…that is until he introduces Mose.  The rest of the episode works to some degree.  The Jim, Karen and Andy dynamic really kind of works.  Good points for bringing to light Ryan’s smarts in business, but not in sales, also, if you pay attention, Dwight reveals the weakness of Dunder Mifflin’s lack of an online resource.  This will come back with Ryan in a big way.  And, yes, it’s a small treat to see Jim and Pam’s dynamic did not disappear.
