Corner Gas, Episode 21: Security Cam

  • The Writers – Brent Butt and Mark Farrell
  • Director – Trent Carlson
  • A brief synopsis – Brent’s installing a security camera to save money on his insurance and it causes a ripple in most of the cast’s daily routine.  Emma and Oscar take a trip and find it to be underwhelming.  Davis gets a new stun gun.
  • The best line –  Emma: It might be nice to relax, get away.  (Oscar honks the car horn)  STOP HONKING THAT HORN YOU LUNATIC!
  • The second best line: Lacey: What are the odds of a riot braking out in Dog River?  Karen (shakes her head): 50-50.  Lacey: How do you figure that?  Karen: We either have a riot or we don’t have a riot.
  • The best moment –  Davis and Karen discussing wrinkle resistant clothing while Hank is “freakin’ out” around their car.
  • The best storyline – The stun gun.  Hank’s desperate attempts to be stunned go beyond reason, but work quite well for Hank.
  • Notable guest appearance – n/a
  • Em’s Favorite Character – Davis, because he zapped himself with the stun gun.
  • El’s Favorite Character – Hank, because he was freaking out, trying to get Davis to use the stun gun on him.
  • Grade – A-

The show is on a roll now, with the slightest event causing a ripple effect throughout the town.  Everything they do holds interest, for both the unique take and for the characters involved.  How does one turn a security cam into trying to work on their thespian skills?  Oscar and Emma are given the rare chance to work mostly off of each other and the result is often as sweet as it is funny.
