These three films are the pinnacle of Zombie's career. His Halloween remakes may have grossed more, but this is HIS artistic statement. They are far from perfect, but they are also unforgettable. If you enjoyed the first two in the series, this will not disappoint.
If all things are fair and square, there will be a good, long career for Panos Cosmatos and his Cinematographer, Benjamin Loeb. The images they create in the time frame of 2 hours could last in the minds of viewers for a lifetime. The story may hold less complication than the images deserve, but together with Nicolas Cage back to his inspired best, the effect sustains. Mandy is one of the more unsettling pieces of modern horror since Rob Zombie introduced us to the Firefly family.
My hopes for this film started to drain the moment I heard Hilton-Jacobs faux Jamaican accent. Why oh why do they ever let that accent into any movie that doesn't take place in the Caribbean? Hell, I even hated it in the third Johnny Depp opus. It's something that should be discouraged at all points. No one likes the approximation of someone who calls pot ganja less than this reviewer. So much for that reunion with the past. How soon till they kill him off?
