If this were less of a dead period cinematically, this story might have been made into a classic. As it stands, its above average for its time, bug only slightly.

This movie knows it’s trash. It’s still trash. Except for Crawford, on both counts.

Another Look: American Gangster Unrated (****) feels right
If that sounds like too much to cover in a movie, it’s not. The three hours fly by and justice is served.

Unhinged (***) is not quite falling down
If you want to see a film on par with The Hitcher, but well under the capability of Michael Douglas in Falling Down, you could do worse. I think I will watch Falling Down again.

It would be nice to see what DiBlasi could do with a smarter script.

We don’t see a plethora of shots in their entirety, but the only trick I want to see is how Strathairn can move us with so few words.
