V/H/S/99 (*1/2): It’s not scary if it lacks imagination
If one finds any of these segments more scary than annoying, they’ve got a lot of patience and not much in the way of expectations when it comes to story telling. It’s not easy to envision the future of film making in this crowd.

Oh well. It is what it is: a slaughterfest with barely sketched out characters.

Encounter (***1/2) family past the breaking point
If you’re a fan of Ahmed, give this a spin. It’s not unusual to see him play a significantly challenged individual. We’ve never seen him play a father. He does both well until the story runs out of steam and decides it’s going to go the route of Smokey and the Bandit II.

If you ever wanted to see what Stanley has in his mind in any given moment, give this a try.
