Justice League (***) Gathered too soon

I want to see more films with this cast. They are likable and they have something to offer. A deliberate altering of the path needs to happen behind to make that talent come alive.

La La Land (***1/2) The portrait of the artist(s) looks familiar

If you like the elements of a musical, the artist staying true to their dream and romance, you will like and possibly love this film. I am firmly in the former category.

The Accountant (****) is compelling though predictable

It's a potential franchise for the perpetually disenfranchised. It's Rain Man on steroids. It's not so good will hunting. It's a connection for all of us who thought we could never connect to someone of different ability, often referred to as being in an autism spectrum.

Zootopia (****1/2) preaches effectively (mostly)

The best thing is that the bad actors in the end are bad because they use differences to scare the larger voting base into being afraid of the smaller one. Fear, as we know, is the way to get votes these days. Saying someone who scares you is worthy of being scared of is a cheap pandering method that is used now more than ever, unless you're Libertarian.

Terminator Genisys (*1/2): Time to abort mission

There are moments to enjoy here. Damn few of them though. The ship has run its course and its time to run it into the iceberg. Think of it as an act of mercy.

Dark Skies could be more surprising

Dark Skies - 2013 Written and Directed by Scott Stewart Starring Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton, Dakota Goyo, Kadan Rockett, J.K. Simmons, Brian Stepanek, L.J. Benet, Annie Thurman Every aspect of Dark Skies leads to one conclusion.  It is a shame, too, because the journey towards this conclusion is faithfully executed and is quite earnest in its work. … Continue reading Dark Skies could be more surprising
