Dune (****) Feels like part of an epic
The first part of Dune is a story well told and beautiful as anything we will see this year. It just feels like the story is just beginning when the credits start to roll.

The first thing one knows when going into the movie Halloween Kills is that, contrary to what Laurie Strode insists, there is a pretty sure bet that evil doesn’t die tonight.

This is likely to be a late night film with friends and Taco Bell and whatever else one decides to ingest. It’s not the time one makes the best decisions anyway.

The Many Saints of Newark (***1/2) – Digging up the past
The Many Saints… does a fair job covering a lot of territory. It’s clearly too much to adequately cover in just one two hour film.

Venom: Let there be Carnage (**1/2) is just waiting…
…the feeling is that of waiting for the inevitable moment when this universe gobbles up Spider-Man. If it does, there is a real fear that they may just bring that good series down to the depths they reach here.
